Rick was born and raised in San Diego, California; Growing up in a city where music is everywhere, it didn’t take Rick long to figure out what his purpose in life was, to make music. As a child he had been heavily influenced by music and such artists as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rush, Kiss, Aerosmith, Eagles, Super Tramp, YES, Frank Zappa,Tesla and AC/DC (W/Bon Scott). These recordings were handed-down to him from his five brothers. These groups eventually took hold of Rick's musical emotions. For the last twenty years, Rick has played and recorded in many diverse varieties of music groups ranging from Rock, Metal, Reggae, Funk, Disco, Christian Contemporary, Progressive-Rock, Dixieland Jazz, Country music and Praise Worship music. He has studied with drummers such as Troy Luccketta (Tesla), Gene Hoglan (Testament), and Gregg Gerson. Rick continues to study with local San Diego, world class drummer and instructor, James Morton. Rick is a full time musician and music instructor—and a lifetime student. He has earned a BA in Human Development, at San Diego Christian College. Some other San Diego bands that Rick has performed and recorded with include, Kitten with a Whip (Rock/Reggae), Bleedstreet (Rock), Tall (Heavy Rock), The Roachbone band (Fusion/Rock), Rick Famiglietti (70’s style Rock), and The Travelin' Band.
